How do Echoblock and Gyptone Quattro differ in acoustic performance?

Echoblock offers a higher Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC 0.85) when combined with 50 mm glasswool, making it highly effective at reducing echo and reverberation. Gyptone Quattro provides Class C absorption (~NRC 0.75), which is excellent for general acoustic treatment and indoor sound clarity.

Can both boards be used for curved or irregular surfaces?

Gyptone Quattro is specifically designed for both flat and curved surfaces with seamless joints. Echoblock boards are typically used in flat applications but can be adapted depending on design.

What indoor air quality benefits exist with these boards?

Gyptone Quattro features ACTIVair® technology that absorbs and neutralizes formaldehyde, enhancing indoor air quality. Echoblock focuses mainly on sound absorption and does not have this feature.

Are the boards paintable?

Gyptone Quattro has an unpainted paper liner that can be painted multiple times without loss of performance. Echoblock has an ivory-colored face which is typically finished as-is but may be paintable depending on manufacturer guidelines.

How do I decide between the two?

Choose Echoblock when maximum acoustic absorption (especially for echo control) is critical, combined with glasswool backing. Select Gyptone Quattro 41 when formaldehyde absorption and aesthetic flexibility (curved seamless ceiling surfaces) are priorities along with good acoustic performance.

What are the typical installations for each?

Echoblock is well-suited for acoustic-sensitive rooms such as auditoriums, studios, and open-plan offices requiring heavy noise dampening. Gyptone Quattro works well in offices, schools, hospitals, and residential spaces needing acoustic performance combined with air quality improvement.
