firebloc plasterboard

A Fire resistant gypsum boards provides good fire protection in buildings due to the unique behaviour of the gypsum core when exposed to fire. When a fire resistant gypsum board protecting building elements that are exposed to fire, the chemically combined water is gradually released in the form of water vapor. This condition is caused in general use if the board or gypsum finish is continuously exposed to a temperature over 49°C.

    Specifications

  • Size: 1830 mm X 1220 mm & 2440 mm X 1220 mm
  • Thickness: 12.5 mm & 15 mm

    Applications

  • FIREBLOC boards are recommended to meet the desired fire resistance in drywalls & false ceilings, beam & column encasement systems etc.
  • Apart from fire resistance properties the Firebloc boards also help to achieve acoustic levels required, when installed as a system with different configuration of plasterboards.

    Benefits

  • Enhanced fire resistance
  • Improve safety
  • Durability and structural integrity
  • Ease to installation
  • Maintenance and longevity

1. What is a FIREBLOC® Fire Resistant Gypsum Board?

FIREBLOC® is a gypsum board engineered with a fire-resistant core containing mineral additives and glass fibers that enhance its ability to withstand high temperatures while maintaining structural integrity.

How does the gypsum core provide fire resistance?

When exposed to fire, the chemically combined water in the gypsum core is gradually released as water vapor. This process helps insulate and slow down heat transfer, protecting underlying building elements

What are the standard sizes and thicknesses available?

Sizes: 1830 mm x 1220 mm and 2440 mm x 1220 mmThickness: 12.5 mm and 15 mm

Where can FIREBLOC® boards be used?

These boards are ideal for:Drywalls and internal partitions requiring fire protectionFalse ceilings with fire resistance needsBeam and column encasement for structural fire safetyOther interior applications where fire and acoustic performance are essential

What are the key benefits of using FIREBLOC® boards?

Enhanced fire resistance and improved safetyDurability and structural integrity under heat exposureEase of installation with tapered edges for smooth finishingLongevity and low maintenance requirementsContributes to achieving required acoustic levels in combination with other materials

What is the typical fire resistance rating?

Depending on the system assembly (number of layers, framing, and installation), FIREBLOC® boards can provide fire resistance from 1 hour up to 2 hours or more.

Are FIREBLOC® boards suitable for moist or wet areas?

They are primarily designed for interior dry areas and should be protected from continuous moisture exposure. For moist conditions, fire and moisture resistant variants would be recommended.

How are FIREBLOC® boards identified visually?

They typically have pink face paper, which visually distinguishes them as fire-resistant gypsum boards.

Can FIREBLOC® boards be finished directly?

Yes, after proper taping and jointing, FIREBLOC® boards can be directly painted or decorated.

How important is correct installation?

Proper installation following manufacturer guidelines is critical to achieve the expected fire ratings and performance, including using recommended framing, fixings, and jointing materials.
